Maddy Treuer CYBERSECURE GROWTH COACH
Maddy Treuer serves as a Cybersecure Growth Coach and Innovation Expert. She assisted in pioneering Peake’s i-HELP initiative (Higher ed Leadership Program) in conjunction with Fayetteville State University, a North Carolina Historically Black College and University adjacent to Fort Liberty. Maddy applies her “learn-it-all” vs. “know-it-all” approach to her range of professional specialities.
Based on her own upbringing speaking Ojibwe at home and as an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, Maddy became a skilled Ojibwe educator. Most recently, she developed curriculum and taught the Ojibwe language for the Aurora Waasakone Community of Learners in Bemidji, Minnesota near where she grew up. Maddy also transcribes original stories from first-language Ojibwe speakers as a consultant.
Maddy earned her Bachelors in Indigenous Studies at Bemidji State University. She served Bemidji State as a President’s Student Commission Leader, an Ambassador for Cultural Exchange, an Ojibwe language table facilitator, a McNair Scholar, and a Student of the Year as a junior and a senior.
Maddy has continued her studies to become a leader in community health care, beginning a Masters in Biology from BSU in 2023 on the way to her current studies for a Public Health Masters at the University of North Dakota. Maddy apprentices as a midwife and has earned certifications as a doula, perinatal educator, and breastfeeding counselor. She currently educates families on preconception health, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period within a 100+ mile radius of Bemidji. Currently, Maddy is collaborating with a group of Indigenous midwives on the creation of a Native American birthing center.
Maddy’s passion for strengthening communities and culture have been reinforced by her ongoing creative work in both ceramics & textiles along with her experiences living with families overseas and her proficiency in Spanish and Portuguese. At Peake, she brings her skills to helping small businesses nationwide succeed locally and globally in a world being changed by AI & Big Data. This includes a special interest in the Peake Fellowship’s development of a nationwide certification in Cybersecurity & AI Ethics.
